Friday 12th
Masquerade Party @ Wild Rover Hostel
Saturday 13th
The carnival starts with a Children’s Parade on Saturday, with various groups of children dancing in different costumes. The parade starts in the corner of Ave. Mariscal Santa Cruz and Oruro Street and will continue through Ave. El Prado.
Sunday 14th
Main Carnival parade with many groups of people dressed in colorful carnival clothes dancing along the main streets of La Paz. The parade will include groups dressed as “Pepinos” (Men dressed as jesters) the main character of the carnival in La Paz.
The parade will start in Ave. Montes and will continue to march through La Paz.
Monday 15th
"Jisk'a Anata" ("Little games" in Aymara). Groups of people from different regions, playing traditional music and dancing in the streets. Ave. El Prado.
Tuesday 16th
"Ch'alla" is a very important Aymara tradition of paying respect to Pachamama (Mother Earth). It involves decorating all the important things they own (home, car and everything else imaginable) with serpentines, confetti and balloons. They sprinkle them with alcohol while praying that thing will work well for them during the year.
